Michael Slack

Michael combined careers in writing/teaching/performing for over a half century while raising three children as a single parent, all of whom are doing very well. After leaving the high-tech world, in 2001 he began a new career as a substitute teacher for the Cupertino Union School District, retiring after 23 years.

Born and raised in southern California, Michael came north to attend Santa Clara University, his dad’s alma mater, where he earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in History and English.

Through the years, besides teaching, Michael has written journalism, fiction, non- fiction, plays, and songs performed worldwide. For over 30 years he has sung with several orchestras and bands, ranging from Vaudeville to jazz. He currently sings with TCB, a country-rock band. He has been a resident of Stevenson House for 21 years.
